I haven't posted much if anything about the Kerry's Vietnam service because anything I wrote or linked to would be redundant if you read Captain's Quarters. Captain Ed is on the story like Jeff VanGundy on 'Zo's leg (but with more dignity). He won't let it go, has done original research and is really all you need to read to get the story. The Washington Times has noticed and cites him in this editorial.
One of the criteria for awarding a Purple Heart is that the person in question was involved in action against the enemy. A wound resulting from friendly fire still qualifies for a Purple Heart as long as it was incurred while engaged with the enemy. We relate this information because the writers over at Captainsquartersblog.com have raised an interesting question surrounding John Kerry's first Purple Heart.
It's worth reading the rest of the editorial and Captain Ed has links in his post to his original post that's cited. The blogosphere is doing the heavy-lifting for big media. And big media is reading blogs.
UPDATE
But the NY Times continues to sleepwalk through the big story.
