Had Chrissy's bridal shower today. It was supposed to be a surprise but she sniffed it out about 2 months ago. I ended up hanging around and eating with my father-in-law-to-be at the bar while 70 women (2 big Italian families) of all ages ate and drank and talked behind us. I did escape for about an hour while the opening of the gifts was going on, only to show up just in time to load up my car with the booty. We got a lot of good stuff (which we picked out anyway via our bridal registry).
Unfortunately, our apartment doesn't have the room we need for all the appliances, kitchen tools, everyday plates, fancy china, picture frames, a vaccuum cleaner, etc., etc., etc. So some of it will be stored at my parents' house but most of it will be in her parents' attic (sealed in plastic bags and labeled, of course) until we get a house; which we'll worry about after the wedding. We did take some stuff back here though.
We desperately needed the new coffee maker. And the toaster oven. And the Brita water filter thing. And the pots. And the good knives only because they look so cool. We didn't need to bring the barbeque accessories back here. We don't have a barbeque. Tomorrow afternoon we'll head back down to her parents' to finish sorting the loot, make sure we know who gave us what so that the "Thank You" cards are accurate, and stuff it all up in the attic. Sounds like a lot of fun, right.
Actually, we know how fortunate we are to have so many people who love us (and buy us gifts).
UPDATED with shot of the big "surprise" entrance.
